The historical record of the faculty begins with the establishment of the Taurida National University in October 1918. The first dean of the Faculty of History and Philology was A.N.Derevitsky - a renowned expert in the field of world culture. With him actively involved in the formation of the Academic Faculty from around the world: Professor G. Vernadsky (son of V.I.Vernadsky), Professor B.D.Grekov, N.L.Ernst professor, assistant professor, and then a member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine A.I.Markevich and others.




Young professionals, graduates are prepared to work with the state order and regional interests of the Crimea, the Black Sea and the Mediterranean basin.

The structure of faculty specializations

Academic and Educational Relations

Faculty of History successfully cooperaties in research with a number of institutes of Ukraine, Kyiv National, Kharkiv National University. VN Karazin, Odessa National University. II Mechnikov, Donetsk National, Dnipropetrovsk National, Zaporozhye and other universities in the country.
One of the specific research activities Faculty of History is an international communications. Lively contacts established between scientists of the department of Ukrainian history, ancient and medieval history with researchers Ruhr University (Germany), Innsbruck (Austria), Glasgow (UK), Bochum, Mainz, Heidelberg (Germany), Innsbruck (Austria), Warsaw, Lublin (Poland), the College de France (Paris), institutes, universities and academies of Moscow, Vologda, Samara, Kursk and the International Consortium for the Study of European cultures.
Department of Ancient History and Middle Ages have a scientific cooperation with the Warsaw and the University of Lodz (Poland), as well as with the University of Caen (France). With French archaeologists conducted joint research in Lower Normandy and in the Crimea.
Department of Modern and Contemporary History of cooperation with Moscow State University. University, the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Slavic Studies, the Institute of History of the Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland), the Institute of USA and Canada Studies, Queen's University (Canada), University of Kansas (Lawrence, USA), Roosevelt Memorial Library ( New York), the backdrop of Churchill (UK). The exchange student groups, joint conferences and publications of scientific papers on the program "Poland - Ukraine - Crimea: Past, Present and Prospects".
